I need to purchase motor insurance and I am not allowed to visit your branches due to the restrictive measures for Covid-19. How can i go about it?

You can visit our website at www.gic.com.cy where you can insure your vehicle with just a few clicks, using a bank card (we’ll send your Policy via E-mail). Alternatively, call us on 8000.87.87.

I am not using my car; can I suspend my car insurance?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to suspend your Policy. It is also a legal requirement for your vehicle to be insured, even if you are not driving it (unless it is declared to be “immobilized”).

Moreover, even if you aren’t using your car, if you hold a comprehensive policy, we will still provide cover for damage from fire and theft - therefore making the insurance Policy essential.

If you worry about paying your premium, please note that you could arrange repayment in more than one instalment (up to 10) through direct debit.

If, due to Covid-19, you still want to cancel your policy, we will waive the cancellation fee.

If I have an accident, will I be able to have my car repaired or replaced?

Our main priority is to make sure our customers can continue to have their claims handled and paid in this challenging environment. However, given the disruption to international transport and manufacturing because of Covid-19, it may take longer to get the necessary parts to repair your car.

I’ve ordered a new car, but the garage has delayed collection. At the same time, I’ve already sold my existing car and changed my policy. What should I do?

Please contact us to provide you with alternative solutions or temporary cover.

My MOT is expiring/has expired, but I can’t get a new one due to COVID-19 measures. Will my insurance Policy still be valid?

Your Policy is valid provided that you take all the reasonable steps to maintain your vehicle in a good and roadworthy condition. If you do this your insurance cover won’t be affected.
